Specialisation
Julia specialises in personal and premises licensing for liquor, regulated entertainment, late night refreshment venues, and open air events.   She also deals with betting, gaming, lotteries and taxi licensing issues.  Her regulatory workload includes Health and Safety, Food Act, Council compliance initiatives and prosecutions (including under 18s, noise etc). Julia appears as an advocate before Courts and Tribunals across the country, and enjoyed a period as an in house lawyer with SFI Group plc adding considerable breadth in understanding client needs.

Her client base comprises the usual range of licensed premises including managed estate, late night venues, vineyards, hotels, restaurants, sports and social clubs, and off-licences.  Other clients include a national AGC/FEC operator, and a national leisure facilities operator.

Career
Julia obtained a grounding in licensing as a clerk at the Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court before returning to private practice. She worked in house with SFI Group plc obtaining licences for their Litten Tree, Bar Med and Slug and Lettuce brands amongst others. Prior to this, she was a partner at Penningtons/Fynn & Partners, Bournemouth.  Before running her own practice, Julia was a partner and the team leader of the Licensing and Regulatory Team at Lester Aldridge and she is still a consultant with the firm.

Personal
Julia’s interests include gliding, archery, crosswords, reading, music, gardening and wildlife.
